直角定規

大型機械のアセンブリ時には、直角定規や大型のストレートエッジが必要になることが一般的です。しかしながら、大抵の場合このようなツールは重量があり、移動させるのは簡単ではありません。正確に配置するために、ガントリクレーンや多大な労力が必要になります。

時間もかかり、怪我や治具の損傷につながる可能性も低くありません。

平行度の測定

大型の門形機械のガイドを想像してみてください。2 本のガイドが大きく離れ、その平行度を測定するのは簡単ではありません。もし、ガイド同士の平行が真にとれていないと、軸移動の際にトルクが過剰に生じ、機械の摩耗が早くなってしまいます。

ダイヤルゲージや水準器を使って測定すると、誤差が発生しがちです。

精密な測定において従来から使用されているツールを使いこなすのは、多くの経験が求められます。

直角定規の配置、ダイヤルゲージの読み取り、ストレートエッジのアライメントといった各作業はヒューマンエラーが起こりやすく、測定結果がぶれる要因になります。

従来の方法では、記録を手書きでとる必要があります。その結果、データの読み取りミス、結果の記録ミス、手書きの文字が読めないといったリスクが高くなります。

また、社内解析と客先提出、その両方を満たすデータを効果的に記録するのが難しいこともあります。

大型機械で 1m を超える長距離を測定しようと思うと、従来のツールでは簡単にいかないことが少なくありません。

1～2m の測定を数回行うことが普通で、スロープエラーが生じたり、測定精度が低下したりする可能性があります。
