Watch our on-demand webinar:
Part 1 - How to choose the best laser for Raman analysis
This is the first of a three-part webinar series designed to help you choose the best instrument configuration when implementing Raman spectroscopy in your laboratory.
Raman spectrometers have a large range of different lasers available. Which laser, or lasers, you choose depends on your application area. Our spectroscopy experts will cover the different wavelengths, power and focus types available using practical examples, as well as discussing:
- How to reduce the effects of fluorescence and how the excitation wavelength affects penetration depth in materials
- The optimum power output to maximise signal levels yet avoid sample damage
- How focus type, optics, excitation wavelength and scanning affect spot size, sample coverage and spatial resolution in spectroscopy and Raman imaging
By the end of the webinar, you will have a good understanding of the factors that affect laser choice and will be able to select the optimum lasers for your own applications and samples.
Meet your experts:
Tim Smith, Raman Applications Manager
Tim has over 20 years' experience using a range of Raman research instruments. He has extensive knowledge and real-world use of systems in most application areas, however, his particular expertise is within Raman imaging and pharmaceutical applications.
Lucy Grainger, Senior Applications Engineer
Lucy has a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield. Since joining Renishaw, she has worked in the additive manufacturing division as an applications engineer and has recently transferred over to the Raman spectroscopy division.
